Dot(.) is a Japanese stoner/sludge band. Great stuff, different, but I can’t find much info on this band even though it’s been on my hard drive for years… just another obscure one for the collection. I’m going to check out some of their newer stuff and if it is good I will share.
“I had eight chocolate martinis, the next day I was driving down the road and totally shit myself. Had to go home and shower, change my cloths and everything.”
“Yeah and he’s doing a hand-stand on the fucking lawn mower, so I yell at him ‘What are you, retarded!?'”
It’s a lazy day so I called out… OK I didn’t finish the advice article and it is 9:45 pm Tuesday night, so… I’m a lazy bum and next week relationship advice Wednesday will resume.
Burzum is Varg Vikernes’ solo project, before he murdered Euronymous (of Mayhem), who oddly enough does the guitar solo in War.
The life sentence in Norway was raised from 16 to 21 years because of Varg, in addition to killing Euronymous he was also convicted of burning four ancient churches to the ground and when he was initially arrested he was found with 300 pounds of explosives, tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition and a two year supply of food.
Vikernes claims that he shouldn’t have been convicted of arson because no one actually saw him set the fires.
Supposedly he was also planning on bombing a Communist Punk squat (basically an old vacant building full of smelly punk rock kids who just want to pan-handle and be bums), which is cool, I mean, at least he was trying to make the world a better place.
Either way Burzum is classic, in every sense of the word, likely the strongest single influence in all of Black Metal. After his release from prison Bulrus was released and is easily the best metal album of the past ten years.
Here is the wiki article explaining the rest of that story for those who don’t already know.
Hail!Hornet is more stoner/sludge, great stuff.
Birds of Prey are labeled death/sludge and there are strong hardcore influences also.
The real artistry lies within the lyrics which are grisly and disturbing, although Mangled by Mongoloids is pretty funny too, talking about being attacked by retarded, incestual, homosexual brothers who are kept in a cage in the basement.
Ska Island (1997), I remember Meric and I both bought this album at Peaches the week it came out. It brings back fond memories of high school, if there are such things assoicated with Lyman High School (Death went to school there also, that school is so shitty that it helped inspire death metal).
It is a compilation, and the first time I had ever hear Prince Buster. Oceans 11 track is good too, in fact the whole album is a put-on-repeat-and-leave.
