Jefferson Airplane- Surrealistic Pillow (1967)

Jefferson Airplane is a classic of psychedelic rock, an album everyone should have in their iTunes library. The only negative thing I can say is that almost all Vietnam war documentaries play songs from this album, which lumps it into a category with an event that was occurring half a world away, which detracts from the relevance of this record in the course of music history.
Surrealistic Pillow was written and recorded before the Summer of Love, released in February 1967 it fueled the trek westward to San Francisco, Haight-Ashbury, Golden Gate Park and the Monterey Music Festival. This was one of the bands that was playing that compelled 100,000 kids to travel thousands of miles to see play, launching such a massive event that it still lingers in the city to this day.
